11-05 20:58 - 'Is Bitcoin Safe and Legal?' (self.Bitcoin) by /u/koinalio removed from /r/Bitcoin within 2-12min

'''
Buying, selling, or trading bitcoin is a private transaction in every part of the world. It is a lawful activity in most western and advanced countries, including the US, Canada, and the U.K. Some large economies have restrictions on Bitcoin, including China (ownership discouraged although not a criminal violation) and India ( banks banned from engaging in Bitcoin). Governments everywhere have concerns with the anonymous movement of funds; they wish to prevent the use of money for illegal purposes.
Koinal understands the importance of anti-corruption laws and maintains legal standards for all sales and purchases. The best advice is to consult the laws of the country where one lives and intends to do business with Bitcoin. Koinal operates within the bounds of all applicable laws and meets legal requirements for transactions in every state in which it does business.

Is Bitcoin Safe?

The safety of Bitcoin also has some variables. Like all cryptocurrencies, there is no physical note or document. Owners must safely keep their digital currency and access codes because if lost or misused, there may be no recourse. An elaborate security system surrounds Bitcoin. The digital currency exists in a blockchain that cannot be altered by any government or central authority. Every Bitcoin transaction is transparent and watched by a global network. Unlike some other types of transactions, once the Bitcoin moves, there is no reversal mechanism. When you sell or buy, the transfer cannot be undone or canceled.
Bitcoin is the oldest of the major currencies that include Ethereum, Lite, and Ripple. Bitcoin, by far, has the highest value, and many investors prefer Bitcoin for investment potential. Bitcoin is among the small group of cryptocurrencies that bring high levels of interest from mainstream financial companies and banks. Relative to other cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin enjoys a high level of interest. It is the most well-known cryptocurrency.

Blockchain Technology

People can buy cryptocurrencies in many ways. The blockchain ledgers keep track of Bitcoin’s existence and ownership, and owners can transfer it on a peer-to-peer basis. Peer to peer transactions does not require any action by a government, bank, or any central authority.
A safer and more widely used method is to perform transactions on Bitcoin exchanges.
[Koinal works with Binance]1 and other leading currency exchanges. Koinal provides a simple and effective way to purchase Bitcoin using regular bank credit cards and debit cards.

Taxes and Virtual Currency

Bitcoin transactions can result in taxation when used to pay for goods, services, and wages. While it is not a recognized form of currency under U.S. tax law, it does have value. In some instances, the tax code assesses Bitcoin by its fair market value at the time of purchase.
The U.S. government’s Internal Revenue Service has noticed Bitcoin and digital currency. It issued an advisory in 2014 and a new item on the tax return for 2020. The IRS named Bitcoin as one of many virtual currencies. The IRS advises that Bitcoin may represent income under tax laws and maybe a taxable asset when held as property.
When treated as property under a national tax code, Bitcoin may get treated like other assets that grow in value, such as the U.S. capital gains tax. Investors, buyers, and sellers should consult legal and tax advisors for advice on their situations. At Koinal, we do not offer tax advice. We simply point out that each investor must examine the tax implications of Bitcoin or other virtual currency transactions.

Keeping Within the Law and Regulations

Koinal takes all required steps to keep its transactions within the bounds of national laws and regulations. Koinal requires identification and personal information needed to comply with anti-corruption and know-your-customer rules(KYC). Bitcoin transactions are not anonymous under current rules and regulations.
Koinal offers a seamless purchasing experiencing for Bitcoin that can use a bank credit card or debit card. Our system provides quick and reliable delivery to the coordinates of your choice. Bitcoin offers exciting potential for usage as a currency, medium of exchange, and as an investment. When you are ready to purchase, visit our Koinal.io website to buy bitcoin instantly with your credit card.

Cashaa Coin (CAS) powers the Cashaa ecosystem. As the native coin of the Cashaa platform, CAS has multiple use cases: Staking done for personal banking services, paying for transaction fees on the Cashaa exchange, maintaining an average balance for complementary services, and much more.
Background
Cashaa initially set up a business doing free international transfers of Cash, using people buying and selling bitcoin as the providers. Obviously their is a war on Cash with Money laundering extra. Hence they spent the last two years, building the systems and collecting data no one else has for the FCA.
Key Points
-They are ahead of big banks as they can offer multiple currency accounts and already established with all payment gateways to make instant transfers. Bank of America for example can’t offer a GBP account and settle instantly in GBP due to gateway issues.

Final thoughts
Cashaa is already one of India’s biggest markets for buying and selling bitcoin. But that’s not it’s target. It wants to and will be known as a bank not a coin ask, not a binance, but Hsbc or a revolution of crypto

Swipe opened the month of August with the launch of its Swipe Network Staking and its announcement to run a Decentralized Finance Lending/Earn application on Binance Smart Chain. This was also followed by the plan to release product updates, events, listings, or partnerships every week until the end of 2020.
Bringing their promise and commitment true to the public, here are the activities that Swipe has released for the past two weeks:

Swipe Launches Staking/DeFi
Swipe has recently launched its test network for Swipe Network Testnet Staking and, at the same time, announced its plans to launch a Decentralized Finance Lending/Earn application on Binance Smart Chain.
With the launch of the Swipe Network testnet, users can use the Swipe Faucet to grab testnet-SXP to use on the decentralized finance application. Users will be able to bond SXP to the Swipe Network smart contract as collateral to ensure the guarantee of conversions for these exchanges. A reserve system in place to lock SXP and guarantee that the merchant and payment networks receive the exact fiat amount is in place as Swipe facilitates real-time conversions on-demand.
Users will receive up 12% APY on their staked SXP within the Swipe Network off-chain and a variable rate for on-chain. Swipe plans to enable staked SXP to earn the processing fees it charges in the future as well on top of the collateral rewards from staking.
Also, Swipe revealed its plans to launch a DeFi App on Binance Chain called SwipeFi, which will enable Binance Chain tokens to be used to earn interest on their supply of collateral to the protocol and borrow against their collateral directly on the Binance blockchain.
Swipe (SXP) Trading Competition
Last August 5 to 12, Swipe and Binance team have both committed a total of 100,000 SXP and 50,000 USDT in prizes to thank its users worldwide for their continued support and to also celebrate the Swipe acquisition and SXP/USDT listing in Futures, Margin and Spot markets. The contest was divided into three categories: a new user exclusive rewards, a trading competition, and the Lucky 99, which awarded users ranked 99th, 199th, 299th, 399th, and so forth until the 9999th place of the top 10,000 SXP traders based on their trading volume.
Swipe x WBTC
Swipe has partnered with WBTC Network and has officially been approved as a merchant for WBTC minting through the WBTC Network’s DAO Governance process. Swipe Wallet users will be able to benefit from instantly wrapping Bitcoin BTC to Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) and vice versa with just a few clicks. Swipe has also listed WBTC on the Swipe Wallet platform and Swipe Visa Card to enable users to buy, sell, exchange, and spend WBTC at over 60 million merchants worldwide.
SXP on CoinDCX
SXP, the native token of Swipe, is now listed and live on its second Indian Exchange CoinDCX. Trading for $SXP token is now live for CoinDCX users who wish to trade SXP/BTC and SXP/USDT.

Swipe has released a new “redefined” white paper under the title: Swipe Product Manual. The Swipe Product Manual was designed with simplicity in mind for easy and coherent descriptions of the Swipe ecosystem of products. This will describe all of Swipe’s current and future products that the team has planned. Technical descriptions and documentation will be made available, as required, per protocol, as some will have API access for developers.
The Swipe Product Manual can be viewed by clicking here or by going to https://sw.pe/ProductManual or downloading https://swipe.io/ProductManual.pdf to your desktop.
Swipe 0% Fees
Starting Monday, August 17, Swipe Wallet and Swipe Card users will no longer have to pay any fees to buy, sell, and pay with crypto. Users can now purchase, sell, and convert cryptocurrencies to and from fiat currencies without the previous 1% fee. Swipe cardholders will also enjoy waived membership fees and free card shipping.
Swipe Staking
As Swipe prepares to launch the Swipe Network Staking mainnet, the Swipe Wallet application will support SXP staking. Users will enjoy staking rewards based on their SXP balances that are held on the Swipe Wallet beginning on August 23, 00:00 UTC.

Swipe Reddit AMA
In his first blog post on Medium, Swipe CEO Joselito Lizarondo answered the questions that the Reddit community asked regarding Swipe’s activities and plans for the future. $16M+ Ecosystem Rewards Program for BNB Holders on Binance
Swipe is launching a 12-week-period $16,000,000 Ecosystem Rewards Program for BNB holders, starting August 17. This program aims to continue to promote the usage of Swipe products, including the Swipe Network Staking and Governance within a strong community. With Swipe’s partnership with Binance, a weekly distribution of 333,333.33 SXP will run to BNB holders on Binance.com.

Swipe’s Chainlink Based Price Oracles Now Live
Swipe has collaborated with Chainlink, the market-leading decentralized oracle network, to launch a live SXP-USD price oracle on the Ethereum mainnet. By switching to Chainlink, users receive stronger guarantees around trust and transparency in the payments process, as critical price feeds for the network are now completely decentralized and available to monitor on the blockchain.
This decentralized infrastructure ensures that reward issuances and token burns only take place based on accurate, highly available, and tamper-proof on-chain prices that have no single point of failure or absolute truth. Users can independently verify the current price, how price updates occur, which nodes are providing data to the network, and more. This means users no longer need to rely on Swipe to produce fair conversion rates.

Interview With Eddie Jiang: How CoinEx Is Adapting To The Exchange Space And Growing

Interview With Eddie Jiang: How CoinEx Is Adapting To The Exchange Space And Growing
Written by chaintalk.tv
https://preview.redd.it/v238540taz751.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a852e171a74e49da802d7c12fadba452cf4cf43
We recently had the opportunity to interview the VP of ViaBTC Group, Eddie Jiang. ViaBTC Group owns popular crypto exchange CoinEx and ViaBTC Pool. In this interview Eddie discusses being the first exchange to use BCH as the base currency, ViaBTC Pool and integrating with CoinEx, new features and ambassador program, and competing with other exchanges like Binance and Huobi. Please enjoy the interview below.
How come you decided to open up CoinEx to other cryptos other than just BCH?
Eddie Jiang: CoinEx is the world’s first exchange to implement Bitcoin Cash as a base currency. At that time, it was evident that there was a demand for BCH trading markets, and we are the first to explore this opportunity. It also shows our determination to support the BCH’s development.
As CoinEx is developing, our goal becomes bigger and we are aiming at the global market. We need to constantly improve our product diversification to meet the different needs of more users, so we open up to other cryptos. In the past six months, we have listed more than 50 new tokens. Up to now, we have listed 129 cryptos and 313 markets. Besides, in addition to spot trading, CoinEx also supports perpetual contract and other derivatives trading.
How does CoinEx integrate with the ViaBTC Pool?
Eddie Jiang: ViaBTC Group announced a strategic upgrade, which included a new organizational structure, product innovations and service improvements, on 30 May.
As part of the change, the Group has established three dedicated business units (BU): the financial services BU, consisting of ViaBTC mining pool and CoinEx exchange; the infrastructure services BU, including ViaWallet and Blockchain Explorer; and the ecological development BU, focusing on the research and development of public chain technology and the construction of the ecology.
After halving, the combination of mining and finance will become closer and closer. Investing in mining machines is like buying a Bitcoin option. Miners need more flexible financial products to maintain and increase the value of assets, or hedging services. Based on this judgment, the operations of ViaBTC mining pool and CoinEx exchange will be integrated in the future to realize the financial empowerment of the mining pool to meet the diverse financial needs of miners.
Features of this integrated product upgrade can be summarized as: “ The mining pool is the wallet, and the wallet is the transaction.” ViaBTC is the world first mining pool that has a wallet embedded in the mining pool account. Users do not need to transfer the mined coins, and can realize the function of coin exchange within the wallet. For example, they can directly convert the mined coins into USDT to pay electricity bill. What’s more, users can store, deposit and withdraw their revenue, and transfer assets to CoinEx at any time without charge, as well as complete other operations on the exchange, such as purchasing wealth management products for asset preservation and appreciation. In addition, we also provide hedging services. All of the above functions can be completed in one stop in the mining pool, without the need to transfer assets between different platforms.
The exchange empowers the mining pool, and the mining pool will further bring more traffic and resources to the exchange. The two complement each other and development coordinately.
CoinEx has recently added many new features. Can you talk about what new updates were made to the platform and why you made them?
Eddie Jiang: We have always attached great importance to the development of overseas markets since our establishment, and one of our major goals this year is to cover at least 10 different languages speaking markets.
To realize this and to meet the needs of more users worldwide, CoinEx has been continuously optimizing and upgrading its operating strategies, products and services. Our product diversifications are constantly improving. As I said before, we have launched leverage trading, perpetual contract trading, and wealth management products in addition to just spot trading. However, we don’t ignore the importance of spot trading. More mainstream, popular, and high-quality tokens have been listed, and up to now, there are 129 tokens and 313 trading pairs on CoinEx.
During the epidemic, we have never slowed down our development. Lacking of the OTC service has always been a shortage for CoinEx. In March, we partner with Simplex to integrate the first fiat onramp to our platform. People now can buy crypto with their credit cards, which lowers the threshold for more people to enter the crypto world. Moreover, we announced global strategic partnership with Matrixport to provide people with large amount of fiat to crypto needs the OTC service. These newly launched services also help to attract more users.
At the same time, CoinEx has been launched in Arabic, Italian, English, Japanese, Russian, Korean and other 16 languages. Earlier we also carried out product upgrades, making the UI and function sections clearer.
In terms of operations, we launched an upgraded CoinEx Ambassador program in March. To best utilize each ambassador’s personal strengths, there are four categories of CoinEx Ambassador with different responsibilities, namely Referral Ambassador, Marketing Ambassador, Operation Ambassador, and Business Ambassador, which will expand our brand’s exposure and help CoinEx grow into a more international exchange platform.
From March until now CoinEx has seen a 100% increase in user registrations. Why is that and are you able to see where they are coming from?
Eddie Jiang: Because of the efforts mentioned above, in 2020, we’ve seen an exponential increase in activity in just the past few months alone. In this year alone, CoinEx’s daily registered users increased by 100%. These new users mainly come from markets such as the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and more.
Interestingly, we saw an uptick in traffic from the Middle East in March. User growth in Southeast Asia also picked up significantly, newly registered users increased by 133.6% in April.
With Binance, BitMex, Huobi, Bybit, and Deribit, controlling most of the crypto futures and options markets, where do you see CoinEx fitting in? How do you plan to capture market share from these large exchanges?
Eddie Jiang: We won’t compete with others. We focus on ourselves to improve products and our goal is to be better than yesterday.
Our pace is solid and steady, instead of focusing on temporary heat and flow. We have always attached great importance of spot trading, and we are committed to be responsible for users’ investment. We have set up CoinEx Institution, which is dedicated on project research. A listing committee consist of core team members review and vote on projects recommended by the CoinEx Institution. In this way, fraud projects are avoided as much as possible.
Besides, we will focus on niche areas with great potential. For example, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. CoinEx can serve users in those countries well by providing a platform with rich cryptos to trade, and will pay more efforts on refined operations in different countries.
Moreover, CoinEx has a very complete ecosystem. Financial services, infrastructure, and ecological development, the three business units complement each other. The infrastructure BU is our cornerstone and is positioned as a defensive product; the financial service BU is a cash cow and is positioned as an aggressive product; the ecological development BU focuses on the public chain ecology and is the future infrastructure.
What is the geographical breakdown of the CoinEx userbase?
Eddie Jiang: The current proportion of CoinEx’s overseas users has reached 80% of the total registered users, and mainly in Australia, Southeast Asia, North America, Middle East and South Korea.
Do you have plans to focus on any certain jurisdictions? How will you do that?
Eddie Jiang: When we evaluate regions, two things matter: policy and potential.
Whether an exchange’s business expansion in a region is smooth or not largely depends on the region’s policies. If the region is not very friendly towards cryptocurrency or has repeated attitudes, there will be more difficulties and the cost will be much higher.
For a region’s development potential, we need to think about the demand and market development status. South Korea, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other regions are all areas with good potential for cryptocurrency development. Compared with Europe and America, policy risks in these countries are lower, and the supervision mechanism is relatively complete. The public has a high degree of awareness of cryptocurrencies. Besides, some regions or countries have inflation problems due to political and economic reasons.
CoinEx will continue to focus on the Middle East and South Asia, which are relatively niche. India has just lifted ban on cryptocurrency trading this year, and there are many cryptocurrency investors in Indian. CoinEx can serve them well by providing a platform with rich cryptos to trade. More people in the Middle East are interested cryptos, especially in countries that are subject to economic sanctions or high inflation. For those people, cryptocurrencies are one of the best choices for asset preservation.
Since the CoinEx Ambassador program launched in March, it has been almost three months. We are conducting the second round of ambassador recruitment. This time, we will use the power of ambassadors to expand our recruitment coverage and strive to attract more crypto enthusiasts from all over the world to grow together with CoinEx. Moreover, we will launch the National Expansion plan and leverage on the CoinEx and ViaBTC mining pool resources, to further explore the Russian market. At the market level, we will make more PR efforts in local markets, and start refined operations.
What is CoinEx Chain and CoinEx DEX?
Eddie Jiang: CoinEx Chain is a public chain built on the Tendermint consensus protocol and the Cosmos SDK. It consists of three dedicated public chains parallel to each other. Among these three chains, CoinEx DEX meets the most basic needs of DeFi for token issuance, transfer, and transactions. The Smart Chain is designed to meet the needs of complex financial scenarios and delivers programmable cash. The Privacy Chain facilitates privacy and security.
On November 11, 2019, we took the lead in launching the Mainnet of CoinEx DEX. CoinEx DEX is the world’s first public chain dedicated to decentralized transactions. Users can easily manage their digital assets on it.
CoinEx DEX can fully satisfy the following conditions: users have private keys at their own disposal; transfers and transactions are all completed on-chain, which is 200% transparent and checkable; the issuance, transfer, and transaction of tokens do not require review or permission; the community governance and operation is decentralized, similar to EOS, and validators are introduced to the community ecosystem construction and governance. There are currently 41 validators.
It also has extreme performance. TPS reaches as high as 10,000 and transactions are confirmed within seconds. The transaction fee, 0.0001 US dollars for each transaction, is negligible.
Third, it’s simple and easy to use. The new operation interface design helps beginners get started quickly; with the one-click token issuing module, users only need to fill in a few items to issue tokens; the built-in automated market-making module guarantees liquidity.
How will CoinEx DEX improve the decentralized exchange space that has been unable to gain much adoption?
Eddie Jiang: There are many challenges and difficulties facing centralized exchanges. The first difficulty is security. Security is a huge concern for CEXs. Over the last 10 years, hackers have stolen more than $1.5 billion from centralized exchanges. In fact, research groups estimate that hackers stole somewhere between $950 Million and $1 Billion from centralized exchanges in 2018 alone. There were also incidents of coin thefts in other exchanges in 2019. Many exchanges, such as Mt. Gox, Youbit, were forced to file for bankruptcy and shut down as a result of hacks.
The second is high management costs. Centralized exchanges need to list a large number of cryptocurrencies and each of them have different trading pairs. That entails huge efforts in development and maintenance and, thus, high management costs.
The last is global policies. Cryptocurrency is faced with different regulatory policies in different countries. Every time a centralized exchange enters a country, it needs to adapt itself to local regulatory policies for compliance. This is a holdback for the exchange’s rapid market expansion globally. Such adaptation will also bring a huge learning cost for the exchange team.
Obviously, these problems can be well solved by DEX. CoinEx DEX is a true DEX with full open source and full community governance, as well as without depending on official nodes, websites, wallets, etc. On DEX, users are able to in charge of their own private keys and assets all by themselves. Their assets are more safe and secure. Transfers and transactions are all completed on-chain, which is 200% transparent and checkable; and the issuance, transfer, and transaction of tokens do not require review or permission. What’s more, CoinEx DEX provides a great and convenient user experience.
How will CoinEx Chain and DEX help the crypto industry as a whole?
Eddie Jiang: The public chain is the cornerstone of the blockchain industry. CoinEx Chain has the parallelism of multiple dedicated public chains, each of which performs its own functions, by cross-chaining for both high performance and flexibility.
CoinEx Chain is committed to building the next generation of blockchain financial infrastructure. It is a more complete ecosystem built around the DEX public chain. The DEX public chain is a dedicated public chain developed specifically for token issuance and trading and the biggest improvement on trading speed, so it only supports the necessary functions, not smart contracts.
But smart contracts are the foundation for building more complex financial applications. Outside the DEX public chain, CoinEx Chain also includes a Smart Chain that supports smart contracts.
Moreover, as privacy issues on the current blockchain have been criticized, it is one of the core tasks of CoinEx Chain to safeguard users’ privacy. Similar to the Smart Chain, the Privacy Chain specifically supports transaction privacy protection. With cross-chain circulation, it can improve the privacy characteristic of the entire CoinEx Chain ecosystem.
Nowadays, 1.7 million people in the world have no bank accounts; however, among them, two thirds are smartphone users with huge demands for financial services. The public chain will empower DeFi applications’ development and popularization, not only help more companies to seize the huge market opportunity, but also to bring lasting transformations and improvements in people’s lives.
With so many crypto exchanges, what is the future outlook of CoinEx when it comes to the crypto exchange space?
Eddie Jiang: It has been nearly 3 years since CoinEx has been launched, but it’s quite young for an entrepreneurial team. We have seen too many projects’ failures due to governance issues. CoinEx has a very elite team with high technical and management capabilities. In terms of business, CoinEx has gradually developed with diversified business and a complete ecosystem. It’s clear that the market will still grow very fast in the future, and the market size is still very large. We will continue to improve our products, put more efforts in marketing and operations, as well as look for more high-quality projects, to increase the number of users and transactions on the platform. Lay a solid foundation, and I’m sure the time will come for us to shine.
What updates is the CoinEx team most excited for?
Eddie Jiang: We are very excited about the National Expansion Plan which will be launched later this year. It is an important part in CoinEx’s globalization strategy. We will actively explore some new markets while consolidate the original ones. CoinEx will set aside 10 million US dollars to set up a “Pioneer Fund” to support this plan. This fund will be used to support local cryptocurrency projects and promote the development of the local cryptocurrency communities through investment or cooperation. Our goal this year is to invest in projects and communities that are conducive to expanding the CoinEx ecosystem in countries with high development potential.

Best Cryptocurrency Trading Platforms in India

Great news, people. India just lifted the ban it imposed on cryptocurrency trading in 2018, which means that it is now legal to trade cryptocurrencies in the country. There is no doubt that the cryptocurrency market has come a long way over the past two years, and the market offers a lot of opportunities.
As expected, there will likely be an influx of traders from India trying to invest in the cryptocurrency market. However, there is still the need to lean towards caution, and one of the best ways to do that currently is by trading through legitimate and legal crypto exchange platforms. Here are some of the best cryptocurrency exchanges that you should consider trying out.
· Binance
This is one of the most popular cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, and it has also been described as the best crypto exchange in the world for quite some time. It has been around since 2017 during the cryptocurrency surge and has overcome many challenges to remain operational. Binance provides access to hundreds of cryptocurrencies, thus giving traders a good variety.
· Koinex
If you are the type of trader that wants to narrow down on just the major cryptocurrencies, then perhaps Koinex is the exchange for you. It offers access to major cryptocurrencies, which include Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ether, and Ripple. It is considered a reliable broker, although it is always a good idea to do your research not only to identify whether it is secure but also whether it suits your preferences.
· OKEx
This is also one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, which means it is already off to a good start, but there is more. It has a good variety of cryptocurrencies listed on its platform, and best of all, it recently collaborated with CoinDCX, an Indian crypto trading platform. The partnership will allow Indian users to trade cryptocurrency futures.
· CoinCDX
This is an Indian cryptocurrency exchange that allows cryptocurrency traders from India to trade 30 cryptocurrency pairs. It is also one that has focused heavily on security so that it can ensure that traders are protected. This exchange is ideal for anyone in India that wants to try out a local platform.
There are many more cryptocurrency trading platforms out there that you can try out. However, if you wish to have an easier time trading cryptocurrency, perhaps consider using TrailingCrypto. The latter is a cryptocurrency trading platform that has a user-friendly interface, and it provides access to all the tools that traders need to trade digital currencies. It also links to multiple cryptocurrency exchanges, which means that you can access those crypto exchanges within the TrailingCryto platform.

Binance Now Supports Deposits and Withdrawals in South African Rand

Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, now supports direct transactions in South African rand. Users will now be able to deposit rand into their trading accounts in less than 30 minutes if their bank accounts support “Faster Payments Service.”
In a blog post on May 12, Binance announced that rand will be available against five major cryptocurrencies — Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB) Binance Dollar (BUSD) and Tether (USDT).
This seemingly comes as part of Binance’s strategy to invest in cryptocurrency exchanges with prior banking relationships so that they may provide cryptocurrency trading against local fiat currencies.
Investing and expanding worldwide
Binance has been proactive in expanding its reach across both developed as well as developing countries. Only today, Cointelegraph reported that Binance made an investment in one of Indonesia’s major domestic regulated exchanges, Tokocrypto — though the amount of investment is yet unknown.
Earlier in April, Binance had also added support for Indian rupee and Indonesian rupiah to tap the potential of growing cryptocurrency markets in these countries. Binance had also acquired one of India’s largest cryptocurrency exchange WazirX and crypto’s most well-known data platform CoinMarketCap.
According to statements made by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao — famously known as CZ — in April, the company invests a quarter of its profits into various investment opportunities.

Global Crypto Alliance live streamed another demo of its IoT prototype smartlock device being operated through $CALL tokens. The team also hosted a fun quiz on their Telegram this week. YouTuber Crypto Rich interviewed the crew on all things $CALL (Part I, Part II). Nik Patel’s detailed research report on COTI was published this week. $COTI was added to the Staking Rewards platform. And here’s a biggie, Binance listed both the ERC20 and BEP2 versions of the token this week with a bonus airdrop for deposits. Woot! Before the listing frenzy started, the team took a moment to take stock of the situation. A big listing like Binance leads to a lot of new eyeballs that could trigger scams. COTI crew shared their anti-scam guide for this reason. DOMSCRYPTO covered the project in their latest video. DoYourTip was covered in an iHODL news feature.

And with that, we close for this week at Parachute. See you again with another update. Ciao!

Centralized exchanges and their risks

Centralized exchanges and their risks
The ecosystem of 2Ether will include a decentralized exchange, 2EtherEx. How are decentralized exchanges – DEX – different from traditional centralized exchanges? Are they really better? What issues do they face? We'll tell you all about it a series of posts. This time, we'll look at centralized exchanges – why they have nothing to do with real decentralization and what risks they pose.
Big exchanges like Coinbase and Huobi allow you to trade in decentralized crypto assets, but they themselves are completely centralized. This is for three reasons:
1) All transactions are processed off-chain and recorded in the exchange's own database. All those thousands of trades made every day on Coinbase, for example, are never recorded on the blockchain.
2) Client funds are stored in a centralized way. When you deposit money on an exchange, it goes into the main wallet of the exchange. It's huge – there are millions of dollars' worth of crypto there. If you send money from your blockchain wallet, then this – and only this – operation is recorded on the blockchain. After this, the centralized exchange assigns you credit of sorts – it puts as much crypto on your individual account as you put in the main wallet. At the end of trading, when you want to withdraw your profits, you sort of exchange those credits for the real crypto, which gets sent to your wallet. This transaction is also recorded on the blockchain. But everything in between has nothing to do with decentralization.
3) The exchange management is centralized – it's in the hands of a few people. They can become very powerful, and their decisions influence what happens to your funds. For example, Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, has such weight in the industry that he doesn't even comment on the potential of any coins. On the other hand, illegal actions taken by exchange executives can have terrible consequences. When the CEO of the Canadian exchange Quadriga was found dead in India, it turned out that almost $100 million were missing from the accounts. This money will probably never be found.
Centralization of exchanges has several more risks:
- Easy target for hackers. We've all heard about massive thefts from exchanges – sometimes up to $500 million. Since all the funds are stored together, exchanges' wallets are among the most attractive things to hack, so criminals keep trying.
- Market manipulations. Exchanges and their partners do lots of wash trading, fictitious deals, front-running, etc. It's estimated that over 80% of all Bitcoin trading volume is essentially fake. Exchanges want to be in the top-10 by volume – and most of their revenue comes from commissions. So they will allow bots and many dubious practices, even if their Terms of Use usually say that you can't manipulate the market in any way.
- Arbitrary actions. An exchange can suddenly close operations in a certain country, introduce an obligatory KYC, or delist an asset.
So if centralized exchanges are so risky, why do most traders use them? The reason is that they have some very serious advantages, too. We'll look at those advantages in our next post.

Changpeng Zhao Still On A Bullish Stance, Despite Failed BTC Price Predictions

Changpeng Zhao Still On A Bullish Stance, Despite Failed BTC Price Predictions

The CEO Of The Biggest Crypto Exchange Made Several Predictions On Bitcoin’s Price, Which Didn’t Happen
The CEO of Binance, the biggest crypto exchange to date, Changpeng Zhao, faced a massive wave of criticism regarding his bullish statements and price predictions. A part of the crypto community even claimed Zhao to be “the counter signal” when it comes to Bitcoin price movements.
Binance’s CEO always showed a bullish stance on Bitcoin, even claiming that he is “bullish every day/second/tick.” Zhao also pointed out the upward and downward ticks in Bitcoin’s price and correlated them with his activity on social media.
Despite his daily sharing of insight, several of Zhao’s predictions turned out to be false just days after posting them. For example, CZ predicted that Bitcoin would stay over $9,000 just a week before the world’s largest cryptocurrency plummeted with 48% in only 24 hours.
On March 5, Zhao tweeted that he expects vast “seismical shifts” in the crypto space. At the time of the claim, Bitcoin traded for little over $9,000. Zhao’s prediction may have been fueled by the Supreme Court of India lifting the ban on cryptocurrencies, imposed by India’s central bank. Just a day after the forecast, South Korea finally legalized cryptos, which lead to a drastic inflow of money into the crypto world.
Another false prediction of Zhao is that BTC would spike to over $15,000. CZ made the statement in November 2019, and, until now, there is no evidence of such events happening. Zhao cited the shift of stance by the Chinese government when it comes to blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. Shortly after Chinese president Xi Jinping announced that blockchain is a “priority technology,” the crypto sector saw a substantial push, mainly from investors in the Asia-Pacific region.
However, Bitcoin failed to stand to the claims of being a “safe haven” asset in times of crisis. First, the tension between the United States and Iran reflected, albeit slightly, on the prices of the entire crypto sector.
Now, with the spreading and panic escalations regarding the COVID-19 infectious disease, the crypto markets saw one of the most significant geopolitical price drops. In just a couple of days, the total market capitalization shrank over two times to hit a low of little over $132 billion.
As of press time, the crypto market seems to be stable, with most of the top-20 cryptos marking double-digit price increases. Bitcoin spiked with almost 15% to shake hands at $6,556.47, Ethereum marked a 14% price increase to trade at $142.24, while Ripple jumped 9% to trade over $0,16.
One of the most significant price gainers, however, is the controversial Bitcoin SV (BSV), with a 29% price increase over the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Zhao remains a firm believer in Bitcoin’s future, as with other leading crypto exchange CEOs. Most of the cash inflow from exchanges comes in the form of BTC, which explains the bullish stance for most of the CEOs.

Looking forward – Monero vs Bitcoin bull market

Here is the chart comparing the last Monero and Bitcoin bull markets.

The red areas mark the time when 50-day MA is below 200. I use it a primary indicator or of a bull/bear market. It's better than measuring from top to bottom because this is something you could actually trade. Let's be honest: nobody catches bottoms and tops perfectly.
  1. The last bull market for Monero started a half year after Bitcoin. However, then – despite not catching up at the beginning – it grew 16 times faster.
  2. Monero is currently the best privacy coin, and privacy coins by many are viewed as the next big thing since privacy is the most essential part missed in Bitcoin.
  3. Some random people recently bullish on privacy coins: https://www.ccn.com/binance-ceo-indias-insane-anti-crypto-bill-will-pump-monero-and-zcash/ https://twitter.com/brian_armstrong/status/1142640371639263233 https://twitter.com/CCNMarkets/status/1143928136414978048
  4. It's worth mentioning that also projects like Libra and even "JP Morgan coin" mention privacy as an essential feature even if it's a bizarre statement from a company that simply cannot deliver that for regulatory reasons.
  5. Monero features rapidly falling emission. This year, it will become one of a very few PoW coins minded slower than Bitcoin. This is excellent fundamental news since it decreases selling pressure on the market.
  6. Monero is in the top 10 of cryptocurrencies when it comes to "buy support": https://coinmarketbook.cc/. Yesterday, when the price was crashing, it was even higher than that (9). Personally, I like this ranking much better than "market cap" that is an almost pointless indicator for cryptocurrencies.
Overall, I'm bullish on Monero as I always was. Obviously, it would be better to sell at the top and buy even more of it now but I still believe it will again perform better than Bitcoin.
Unfortunately, when Monero goes up against Bitcoin it's always so quick that you cannot catch it with typical momentum indicators. Historically you could only grab those "sick gains" if you were already in. I remember from this group people cursing because they sold it a day before and day woke up in the morning with the price already +0.01btc higher.
Be patient and don't freak out. Good night and good luck.

After the Bitcoin crash: do others fear me for greed?

At 6:30 pm on March 12, Bitcoin dropped from $ 7211 to $ 5555.55. The bitcoin price dived again this morning, slumping nearly $ 2,000 again in half an hour, the lowest fell to $ 3,782.13, a drop of more than 40% in 24 hours. According to the data of the contract emperor, only Huobi, OKEx, Binance, and BitMEX exchanges had a daily short position of 3.133 billion US dollars, which reached the highest in a single day in history. The number of liquidated positions exceeded 110,000, which was also the highest in a single day.
Also on March 12, the S & P index fell 260.74 points, triggering the fusing mechanism for the second time this week. The Dow hit its largest decline in history, at 2352.6 points. The Nasdaq fell 750.25 points to 7201.8 points. This is the third time in the history of US stocks. This fuse has been 33 years since the first fuse, but only 4 days have passed since the last fuse. Buffett shouted, "I only lived this way in 89 years." It is reported that Buffett lost $ 6.8 billion last night.
According to incomplete statistics, with the exception of the United States, the stock markets of 11 countries including Canada, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, and Pakistan plummeted. The five largest US technology companies, Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook, and Microsoft, had a cumulative market value of $ 416.63 billion. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index shows that the top 15 richest people in the world lost a total of $ 46.4 billion.
Market panic or pullback demand? Regarding the meltdown of U.S. stocks this week, Yang Delong, chief economist of Qianhai Open Source Fund, believes that the spread of the epidemic is not the main reason. It is more a decade of bull market for U.S. stocks. Some factors driving the rise of U.S. stocks are quietly changing, such as the Federal Reserve ’s interest rate There is not much space. Regarding this crazy drop in Bitcoin, Apocalypse Capital told InfoQ that there are two main reasons for this drop in Bitcoin: on the one hand, the bearish demand caused by the expected global economic downturn, and on the other hand, Bitcoin Callback requirements themselves.
As we all know, Bitcoin will be halved in the second half of the year, but the trading market pays attention to speculation expectations. This round of rise has essentially halved the market. After hitting a high of 10500, Bitcoin is facing a callback demand. Of course, this round of downtrends is so rapid and there are only a handful of recurrences in the history of Bitcoin, which are inextricably linked to the decline in global stock markets, both of which are the result of expectations of a bearish global economy.
However, Johnson Xu, chief analyst of TokenInsight, told InfoQ that the Bitcoin dip was mainly due to market panic, because some market participants bought bitcoins by buying mining machines, borrowing, etc., and expected to reduce their expectations by half. A linkage effect caused by everyone being too optimistic about the market.
The market is overhyped because Bitcoin is halved, and some market participants are afraid to miss the opportunity to enter the market irrationally. The current market slump is driven by strong irrational behavior, which translates into a rapid downside response and quickly depletes market buyers' liquidity (flattening down). When the overall financial market panic or other unexpected events are caused by the New Crown virus and the global economic slowdown, market participants often seek to withdraw assets such as stocks and bitcoins and convert these assets into cash (cash is king). So has the recent gold sell-off.
When the market panics, people ask for cash in the beginning instead of investing in safe-haven assets such as gold. At the same time, because gold is considered a high-quality asset, investors usually start with liquidity crunch and market panic. Cash in on good assets (because inferior assets are more difficult to sell in panic times). The Bitcoin crash this time has a certain connection with the decline in global stock markets, because the entire financial market is a globalized market, and there is more or less linkage between each asset.
In addition, Forbes speculated that it may be because PlusToken scammers transferred bitcoins worth more than 100 million US dollars to the mixer, and then sold bitcoins, resulting in rising market supply.

Other people are greedy, I am afraid, others are afraid of me, greedy? In this case, should investors still expect "halving the market"? Johnson Xu believes that there is no such thing as a "half quotation", and most market participants are too optimistic about the halving of Bitcoin. Price fluctuations are not necessarily caused by halving, but may be caused by the sum of other factors. When everyone is saying that they are optimistic about the market, the existence of risk is ignored in the subconscious. At this time, the risk will be actually reflected, and the upside will gradually shrink. Bitcoin halving was written into the code, and it was not an accident. Bitcoin should be halved in a rational way. It is worth looking forward to, but not overly interpreting and speculation.
However, Tianqi Capital believes that this plunge is a callback period for bitcoin's halving of the market, and each round of sharp decline also indicates the opportunity of the market outlook: cheap chips will be hoarded, waiting for the next wave of hype and explosion. Therefore, Tianqi Capital still believes that the market outlook of Bitcoin is worth looking forward to, provided that it is not frightened by the current fierce washing of the chips, after all, when the bear market is the worst, it is also when gold is everywhere.
Regarding the future trend of Bitcoin, Apocalypse Capital stated that it should judge according to the current trend.
In this round of market, Apocalypse Capital initially chose to follow the downward trend of May 18, and Bitcoin has gradually dropped from a high of 10,000 to 3150 points, so the big support level predicted by this round happens to be 3700 today. Near the point. Data monitoring shows that some funds are involved in this price range. But whether it can hold on to this support remains to be tested. If the 3700 support cannot be maintained, it is very likely that it will hit the US $ 2000 level. Tianqi Capital believes that this is the market's last line of defense. Long-term investment is recommended to buy some relatively stable targets, such as BTC, ETH, etc. The bear market will eliminate many currencies, but if it survives, it will shine in the next round.
Johnson Xu believes that the plunge is also a test to promote the healthy development of the industry. Extreme market is a test for the entire industry, especially for infrastructure, risk management, etc., so it is still optimistic and supports the development of the industry for a long time.
For current investors, Johnson Xu offers the following suggestions:
  1. Other people are greedy, I am afraid, others are afraid of me, greedy.
  2. Global financial markets have also undergone major changes. From the data point of view, I don't think Bitcoin has the attributes of a safe-haven asset, but this market can test whether Bitcoin has a certain risk-avoidance capability. This is a global world. We need to analyze various markets, not just the digital asset market.
  3. In the long run, we are still optimistic about the digital asset industry.
Does Bitcoin have a fusing mechanism? On March 9, after the U.S. stock market crash triggered the fusing mechanism, the market began a discussion of "whether Bitcoin should set up a fusing mechanism". But at present, most people are not optimistic about the Bitcoin fusing mechanism. OKEx CEO Jay Hao said that the fusing mechanism is difficult to implement in the digital currency market. In the face of a highly volatile market, setting the fuse point is a difficult problem. At the same time, for a 7 * 24h market, when a certain exchange breaks down, the price difference between the digital currencies between the platforms will increase, leading to arbitrage, and the fuse mechanism will eventually become a decoration.
Du Wan, the co-founder of Contract Emperor, also said that it is unrealistic to use a fuse mechanism in the currency circle. The fusing mechanism first violates the original intention of the decentralization of the blockchain, and at the same time, it will touch the interests of the top of the currency circle ecological chain. For example, large trading teams can no longer use pins to obtain large profits. When the market is panic, exchanges with a fuse mechanism may lose traffic to exchanges without a fuse mechanism because of the run effect of traders.
It can be seen that the current risk aversion measures in the traditional stock market are difficult to transfer to the fickle currency market in a short time, and the regulation of this market still has a long way to go. Investors should still be cautious when investing.

YouTube Censorship Emphasizes the Importance of Decentralization

The whole cryptocurrency community was outraged when the premier video streaming site YouTube began purging content created by various influential crypto-centric content creators. Reports of the purging began surfacing during the height of the holidays, which many believe was intentional to minimize pushback from the crypto community. Nonetheless, the news passed on like wild wire and soon enough caught the attention of the most influential people in the crypto space.
Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of ethereum, expressed his surprise when YouTube censored an ethereum roadmap Q&A prompting him to call on her followers to perhaps it is time to begin to look for alternatives to YouTube. A similar proclamation was made by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, CZ, stating that it might be high time the crypto community takes a stab at its own blockchain social media platform. Other crypto influencers have similar sentiments expressing their dismay on the development.
EOS founder and Chief Technology Officer of Block. One Daniel Larimer warned of a future where technology giants will have total control of all forms of media. He cautioned that there might be a time when these technology giants will begin to dictate not only what can be shown to consumers but also what content creators can create. While Vitalik and CZ called for the exploration and creation of decentralized social media, Dan and his company are a step ahead as they are set to release the beta of their EOS-based social media platform Voice in February.
The latest move of YouTube seems to have strengthened the need for the creation of a decentralized social media alternative for YouTube. A social media platform that will be equivalent to bitcoin, censorship-resistant and cannot be controlled by a single entity for its own agenda. For the past few years, a centralized social media platform has come under fire for using and selling private user information data to various interested parties. These companies earn millions from user data without them knowing it.
A decentralized social media platform represents a paradigm shift from the old model where most of the profits of the platform go to the company but instead are rewarded to content creators frictionlessly through the use of cryptocurrencies. Unlike centralized social media (SM), in decentralized SM no single entity, even the developers themselves cannot just implement changes in the platform, they usually need to get the approval of the majority of the users or elected representatives of the users.
More importantly, contents that have been uploaded and recorded in a decentralized social media cannot be deleted unilaterally by any single entity even the developers themselves without them having access to the private keys of the account. This makes content created in decentralized social media more censorship-resistant. While decentralization makes contents unstoppable it does not mean low-quality content cannot be policed by the community. Decentralized social media can be flagged or downvoted to be less visible but not entirely be removed.
Unstoppable, censorship-resistant, transparent and inclusive these are the hallmarks of decentralization and what gives blockchain-based applications such as bitcoin and the ever-increasing number of decentralized applications its worth and value. However, the pace by which decentralized applications air increasing by the day makes the industry ever more fragmented, siloed and isolated from each other. There is a need for them to be able to interoperate or interact with each other at some level.
While these decentralize applications may not be able to interoperate or interact with each other without creating new technology to bridge them together, their main mechanism for exchange of value can, through their coins and tokens. These digital assets are traded in trading venues which for the time being is dominated by centralized exchanges. Centralized exchange (CEX) are not better than traditional banks as users will have to deposit their assets, asked permission from CEX operators to withdraw their own cryptocurrency and can also be denied access.
Decentralization can only be as strong as its weakest link and many believe centralized exchanges are the weakest link in the crypto community’s effort for continued decentralization. Centralized exchanges not only act like banks but are also easily targeted by hackers and government. The former for its big stash of cryptocurrency which are usually lumped together in one “honeypot” wallet and the latter to implement regulatory policies that usually run against the virtues of decentralization.
The negative effects of this centralization of trading venues are evident throughout the short history of cryptocurrencies. The first decade of these burgeoning asset class is marked by hacks of major centralized exchanges that resulted in hundreds of millions worth of digital assets spirited away by hackers giving a devastating blow to cryptocurrency investors. On the other side of the spectrum, the hostile regulatory stance of countries like China and India have forced exchanges to close down locking with the investor’s money.
Fortunately, cryptocurrency innovators were able to create decentralized exchanges that evolved throughout the years to be as fast, efficient and cost-effective as centralized exchange. The best part of this is the fact that these exchanges do not carry as much risk as centralized exchanges as assets never leave the custody of the trader. More importantly, there is no way the decentralized exchange or any external entity could steal or restrict access to your own money so long as traders keep their private keys safe.
One of the leading decentralized exchange in the world is Newdex, a multi-chain decentralized exchange (DEX) which has been at the forefront of decentralized exchange innovation by introducing many innovative features to empower its users. It was one of the first global EOS-based DEX which evolved to a multi-chain DEX supporting EOS, TRON, and EOSIO sidechains WAX, LYNX, TELOS; one of the first to offer free CPU computing resources; and recently support the Ethereum, TRON and EOS variants of Tether (USDT), the leading Stablecoin in the whole crypto space.
Beyond supporting three active blockchain forms of USDT Newdex goes the extra mile by offering its users cross-chain USDT conversion with minimal to no charges, supporting the active platforms of USDT namely, Ethereum, TRON, and EOS. Stablecoins like USDT have played an important part in the development of the crypto industry as it provides a less volatile asset to trade cryptocurrencies without having to interact directly with fiat which requires rigorous compliance requirements.
Decentralization is the primary value proposition of distributed ledger technologies and what many believe makes them a highly sought technology and sets them apart from the many technological breakthroughs in the last decade. For the first time in human history, the human race is able to encapsulate “Truth” in technology. Immutable, final and transparent, enabling a risk-free peer-to-peer exchange of value. A technology that afforded us an unparalleled opportunity for equality and freedom.
